Safeguarding
Safeguarding comes first.
Creating a safe, respectful space for young people is fundamental to every Denali intervention.
Denali works within each school’s existing safeguarding procedures, with any concerns shared promptly with the school’s Designated Safeguarding Lead. Clear professional boundaries, appropriate information sharing and careful record keeping underpin every programme.
Denali’s own safeguarding and child protection arrangements are aligned with current national guidance and Warwickshire safeguarding procedures, ensuring the welfare of the young person remains at the heart of every decision.

Isabelle Squire
Founder of Denali Development
My own experience of school is part of what shaped Denali. I was a high-achieving student, gaining A and A* grades, with good attendance and no behavioural concerns – but that didn’t mean I always found school easy. I lacked confidence and, at times, felt a little lost.
On paper, there was nothing to flag. Looking back, I can see how valuable it would have been to have dedicated one-to-one time with someone who could help me understand myself better, build confidence and find strategies that worked for me.
Every young person’s experience is different. Sometimes difficulties show up through attendance, behaviour, relationships or disengagement; sometimes they are much harder to see. Denali starts with the individual, looking beyond what’s happening on the surface to understand what may be getting in the way and what could help.
That perspective is combined with more than 20 years’ experience leading people development across the public and private sectors, alongside specialist study in leadership, coaching and neurodiversity. Together, they shaped Denali’s approach: dedicated time, space and structured one-to-one support that complements the work already happening around young people in school.
The story behind the name
Why Denali?
Denali was my dog and an incredibly important part of my life. He was by my side through some of my most challenging times, bringing companionship, consistency and often a reason to get up and keep going when things felt difficult. He taught me a lot about resilience, trust and the difference that simply having someone beside you can make.
When it came to naming the business, Denali felt right. His name means “The Great One” and is also the name of North America’s highest mountain, creating a natural connection to growth, challenge and finding your way forward.
More importantly, Denali Development carries his name because of what he represented to me: steady support, without judgement, through both the good days and the difficult ones. That’s something I want every young person who works with Denali to feel too.
Progress does not always happen in a straight line. The right support helps a young person understand the landscape – and keep moving.
